Scam Report
The news about the surge in Monero price due to some theft transfer of BTC to Monero via instant exchanges seems to have some new twist.
As per the investigation by our team of ChainSnaps, the swap of 3500+ BTC, which amounts to around 333 million USD, to privacy coin Monero is not theft.
These bitcoins were purchased around December 2016, when bitcoin was around 950 USD per coin. And the investor paid around 3.4 million USD to acquire the 3500 Bitcoin and hold it for 9 years. Now that 3.4 million has become 333 million USD when BTC has reached 94,500 USD per coin.
The investor has some new plan in his mind, and he has swapped the BTC gains into XMR and now wants to earn some long-term gains on Monero too.
